Representation

Mantse Mboa Kuw represents the Central region of Ghana, one of the 10 administrative capitals, which is bordered by Ashanti and Eastern regions on the north, Western region to the west, Greater Accra to the East and Gulf of Guinea to the South. It was the home of the first national capital of Gold Coast and a citadel of education, among them are the first two secondary schools: Adisadel College, and Mantsipim. Other famous schools in the region are: Aggrey Memorial, Ghana National, St. Augustines, Holy Child and Wesley Girls.

The region has Cape Coast as its capital and boasts of 17 district capitals. The region boasts of different tribes such as Guans, Agonas, Ekumfis, Twifos, Denkyiras, Assins, Aburas, Borbor Mfantse, Ajumako etc. The region is rich in culture as showcased annually among them are Fetu Afahye of the Oguaas, Aboakyer of Winneba, Edina Bakatue, Akwanbo of the Gomoas. Economically, the region is endowed with minerals and natural resources. It also boasts of fishing, farming and poultry. Religiously it is the home of European religions such as Methodist and Anglican churches.

Lastly, most of the political parties in Ghana have their roots in Central Region, example UP, now NPP in Saltpond and NDC in Cape Coast. Mfantse Mboa Kuw is primarily a support group who seeks to promote and showcase the Fantes in DFW, but our membership welcomes other Ghanaian tribes, Americans and our neighboring countries who are directed related to a Ghanaian member.

Mission

Mfantse Mboa Kuw is a non-profit and non-political social organization promoting unity among its members and caring for each other's welfare in times of need as a short-term objective and pursues activities that will enhance further understanding of our cultural heritage.

The organization makes provision for the moral and financial support of members experiencing crisis that involves their immediate family.

We support the Ghanaian community in the Dallas/Fort-worth area as a whole and perform philanthropic activities in our homeland Ghana to help improve the lives of the needy.

History

Georgina Bartels, a Fante lady, saw a need to unite the Fantes here in Dallas Fort Worth and help one another. In May 1991 she reached out to some of her Fante friends in the area. They met in her Northgate Apartment in Irving, Texas. Present was Peter Kahi, James Anumel, Peter FitzWilliams, Diana Quarshie, Mr and Mrs David Sanni-Thomas and Mr Charles Hansen. They all agreed that it is important to form this Association with the main objective being to serve and help the Ghanaian Community here in DFW and reach out to other needs in Ghana. After a long discussion MFANTSE MBOA KUW DFW was formed.

In July 1991, the first official meeting was held in Peter FitzWilliam's house in Grand Prairie, Tx. Mr Peter FitzWilliams was elected as the First President of the association with subsequent meetings held every second week of each month in members homes.

Gradually as their membership increased, they discussed and formulated By- laws and a constitution to guide the newly formed association.

In February 2005, the association lost its first founding member Geogina Bartels.

Mfantse Mboa Kuw continues to be a vibrant association over the years through dedicated and committed leaderships. These are the list of presidents for the association from former to the current:-
Peter FitzWilliams, Grace Asare, John Arthur, Daivd Sanni Thomas, James Anumel, Ben Asmah, Angie VanEss, Fifi Richardson, Frederick Maison, Charles Opoku, Jimmy Smith and Eric Ashun.
